The following obit was found in the Fisher Family Bible. It appears to
have belonged to Henry Fisher who was the son of George and Barbara Moss
Fisher. This obit was glued to the inside of the Bible. [Terri Saylor]
Loren C. Strong
Loren C. Strong, son of Henry C. and Rebecca (Ault) Strong was born near
Mexico, Miami Co., Ind., Apr. 6, 1870 and departed this life Dec. 21st,
1921, aged 51 years, 8 months and 15 days.
On the home farm he lived to manhood's estate and on Jan. 13th,
1897 Rev. L.W. Ditch united him in marriage to Leota A. Bair, daughter
of James S. and Sarah (Maus) Bair of the same community.
At the time of his death he was residing on the old homestead where
his wife was reared, just one mile from where he first saw the light of
day 51 years before.
No children were born to them but they had taken into their home
little Martha Lewis who was cherished and cared for as an only child.
He leaves a wife, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Bair of Mexico,
her brother, G.F. Bair of Peru, one sister, Mrs. George Gorman of near
Mexico and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his departure.
In life he was a kind husband, good neighbor and although he was
never united with any certain religious denomination, he was firm
believer and practiced the mandates of the Bible as they are embodied in
the Golden Rule, and also clean if the many vices which beset the
Christian Nation.
There is no death. The leaves may fall
The flowers may fade and pass away,
They only wait through wintry hours
The coming of the May.
There is no death. An Angel form
Walks o're the earth with silent tread,
He bears our best loved ones away
And then we say they are "dead".
He leaves our hearts all desolate
He plucks our fairest flowers,
Transplanted into bliss, they now
Have left this word of ours.
Born into that undying life
They leave us but to come again,
With joy we welcome them the same
Except in joy and pain.
Are ever near us through unseen
The dear immortal spirits tread.
For all the boundless universe
Is life, there are no dead.
