Obituary of Barbara Fisher
The following obit was found in the Fisher Family Bible. It appears to
have belonged to Henry Fisher who was the son of George and Barbara Moss
Fisher. This obit was glued to the inside of the Bible. [Terri Saylor]
A Pioneer Lady Dead
Mrs. Fisher, widow of the late George Fisher, died at her home near
Mexico Friday evening, aged about seventy years, of erysipelas and other
ailments common to old age. Mrs. Fisher had lived in Miami county many
years and was one among the many worthy pioneer residents of the county.
She was a member of the German Baptist church and being a devout
christian her life was sent in doing good. She was an affectionate wife,
a kind mother and a useful woman in the community in which she lived. No
lady in Miami county was held in higher esteem, and she will be sadly
missed by her many friends, as well as by her immediate relatives. Her
husband, George Fisher, who died about seven years ago, [Brian's note: this puts her death at circa 1897] was one of Miami
county's most substantial and best known citizens.
She leaves four sons, who are Rev. Lee Fisher, of South Whitley,
Ind., and Peter, Henry and William, of Miami county. She was buried in
the German Baptist cemetery at Mexico, at 11 o'clock Sunday morning. No
funeral service was held on account of the illness of her son Henry.
